WHAT IS AN ORAL SURGERY EXTRACTION?

People opt for oral surgery when your tooth has not popped out through your gum tissues yet or if it is impacting or pressing on a different tooth. This is frequently the case with wisdom teeth, which may need oral surgery to ensure a safe extraction. We can refer you to an oral surgeon for your tooth extraction if required.

CAN I HAVE MY DECAYED, CRACKED, OR BROKEN TEETH EXTRACTED AT YOUR OFFICE?

Here at Advanced Dental Center of Lincoln Park, MI, we provide root canal treatments and other services meant to preserve your remaining teeth. If none of these options work for you, you can have your tooth extracted in our office or by an oral surgeon. In most situations, removing a tooth also removes the cause of pain, making it an excellent solution for people suffering from toothaches. After your tooth extraction procedure, we will discuss all the available options with you for replacing your missing tooth to ensure a healthy bite.

WHY ARE BABY TEETH REMOVED SOMETIMES?

If your child’s baby teeth are preventing the eruption of adult teeth, we may need to extract them to make a place for healthy tooth development. Infected or rotting teeth may also need to be removed to improve your children’s dental health.

WILL TEETH EXTRACTIONS BE NECESSARY IN CASE OF ADVANCED GUM DISEASE?

Advanced periodontal disease that has led to the loosening of your teeth may need their extraction. If it is practical, the dental staff at Advanced Dental Center of Lincoln Park, MI will try to save your teeth. We can also perform tooth extractions for teeth that are no longer viable and need to be removed to maintain good oral health. This will usually reduce the pain right away and help you and your family to handle gum disease as effectively as possible.

DO WISDOM TEETH NEED TO BE REMOVED?

Wisdom teeth usually emerge during adolescence and early adulthood. This third set of molars can lead to significant crowding of the adjacent teeth, as well as infections or harm to the surrounding teeth. Wisdom teeth extractions are rather common, and they are performed to prevent the damage even before it begins. Additionally, they provide several therapeutic advantages to patients suffering from pain and discomfort from impacted wisdom teeth.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TEETH ARE TOO CROWDED?

You may suffer from pain in your gums or jaw if your mouth is too tiny for your adult teeth. Teeth that are very crowded could lead to crooked or misaligned teeth structures. If you opt for braces to straighten your teeth, our Lincoln Park, MI dentists at Advanced Dental Center may need to pull one or more teeth to make a place for them to settle into the proper positions in your mouth.

HOW TO TAKE PROPER CARE OF MY TEETH AND GUMS AFTER AN EXTRACTION PROCEDURE?

Regular aftercare instructions for an extraction procedure usually include a list of activities that you must avoid for the next 24 to 48 hours. Following these directions will guarantee that your extraction site recovers as quickly as possible and that your surgical treatment does not result in any undesirable issues.
